Abstract
The American University in Dubai (AUD) was commissioned by EcoSmart to complete a survey on concrete, cement and SCM usage and production in the United Arab Emirates to gain a better understanding of the industry and practices current being employed. The survey found that in 2007 concrete production in the UAE was between 31 – 35 million cubic meters, cement production of approximately 15 million tonnes and SCM use in excess of 2.5 million tonnes and growing rapidly. The survey further investigated the market demands and costs for concrete and building materials (cement and SCMs) in the UAE.
